Pre-Assessment Readiness
Complete the readiness checklist and start the assessment.
Every engagement starts in the Pre-Assessment phase. Before the assessment can begin, all items on the Pre-Assessment Readiness checklist must be completed or waived. Every change is captured in an audit trail.
Open the readiness workspace
- Open the engagement from Engagements.
- In the section switcher, click Assessment, then the Planning tab. (Planning is the default tab of the Assessment section.)
The Pre-Assessment Readiness workspace shows a progress bar and the item list on the left, with the selected item's detail on the right.
The checklist items
For imported (Bedrock CMMC) engagements the checklist has 8 items:
- Contract Executed
- SSP Reviewed
- Body of Evidence Confirmed
- Conflicts of Interest Cleared
- Assessment Team Composed
- Pre-Assess Form Drafted
- Pre-Assess Form QA'd
- Uploaded to eMASS
External (outside) engagements use a 6-item set instead: Assessment Scope Confirmed, Kickoff Scheduled, Interview List Drafted, On-Site Logistics Confirmed, Evidence Request Sent, and Ready to Assess.
Work an item
- Click an item in the left list to open its detail panel.
- Attach supporting artifacts (for example a signed contract PDF or a team roster) — uploaded artifacts are stored in the instance and counted in the item's status line.
- Mark the item complete. Completed items show who completed them and when; you can also re-open a completed item if something changes.
Waivers
A lead assessor can waive an item instead of completing it. Waiving opens a dialog that requires a reason; the waiver — and any later revocation — is recorded in the audit trail, and the item shows Waived by with the lead's name.
The Planning tab's other cards
Below the readiness workspace, the Planning tab also contains:
- The engagement team card — assign assessors to this engagement and give them control-family (domain) assignments. Only lead assessors can change assignments.
- The assessment planning board — plan assessment activities for the engagement.
Start the assessment
At the bottom of the readiness workspace is the Start Assessment button with a helper line that tells you exactly what's blocking it:
- "Only the lead assessor can start the assessment." — you aren't the lead.
- "Complete all 8 items to unlock (n/8)" — items remain.
- "All readiness items are complete — you may start the assessment." — ready.
Click Start Assessment to move the engagement into the Assess phase. The lifecycle stepper at the top of the workspace — Pre-Assessment, Assess, Report, Close-Out — advances to reflect it.
