Installing the app & notifications

Put the portal on your home screen and turn on reminders for practices and meets.

The portal runs in a browser, but it can be installed like an app and can send reminders. Both are optional.

Installing

Look for Install app on the portal.

  • Android and desktop Chromium browsers — the button triggers the browser's own install prompt. Accept it and the portal gets its own icon and window.
  • iPhone and iPad — Safari has no install prompt, so the button opens short instructions instead: tap the Share button in Safari, then Add to Home Screen.

Once installed, the button stops appearing. Installing does not create a second account or change how you sign in — it is the same portal in a tidier wrapper.

Turning on notifications

Turn on notifications asks the browser for permission. Allow it and the portal registers this device and sends a confirmation notification so you know it worked. The control then reads Notifications on — tap to turn off.

Two things to know:

  • Notifications are per device. Turning them on for a phone does not turn them on for a laptop; repeat it wherever you want them.
  • If you previously blocked notifications for the site, the browser will not ask again. The control shows Notifications blocked and points you at your browser settings, where the block has to be cleared first.

What gets sent

Today the portal sends event reminders: roughly a day before an event that the coach flagged for notification when creating it, everyone following the team gets a reminder. Coaches choose that per event — see Schedule & events.

Reminders carry the event details only. Nothing medical, and no personal information beyond the event itself, is sent in a notification.

If the notification control does not appear at all, push has not been configured for your coach's Praevio account. Everything else in the portal works normally.

Offline behaviour

The installed portal opens without a connection, but it is not an offline app. Signed-in pages — your schedule, workouts, results, and chat — need a connection because they are fetched fresh each time; without one you get a fallback page rather than stale data. Logging a workout requires a connection to save.

If a page looks out of date, pull to refresh or close and reopen the app.
